While still in high school he became part of the vibrant folk music community centered in Boston and southeastern New England during the 1960’s. He has performed on stages in the United States, Europe, Great Britain and Ireland and continues to play his own songs while paying tribute to the songwriters who influenced him in his youth, such as Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, Eric Andersen, Gordon Lightfoot, Tim Hardin, Fred Neil, Paul Siebel, Danny O’Keefe and Jerry Jeff Walker. A Jim Palana song usually tells a story in a simple, undertstated way, often with a touch of wry humor.
